A Mumbai court has extended the police custody of the Bangladeshi man arrested for allegedly stabbing Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his home during a robbery attempt last week. The accused, Shareeful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir (30), was produced before a magistrate's court in Bandra at the end of his previous remand. Police sought his custody for seven more days, arguing further investigation was required. The court granted the police plea and extended his custody till January 29.
The deceased, Mahesh More, was posted in the Quick Response Team (QRT) of the Thane police.
Seven persons, including a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena corporator from Dombivali have been arrested by Thane police on the charges of dacoity, police said on Tuesday. A local court has remanded them to four days of police custody.

Shinde was arrested in August 2024 for allegedly assaulting two minor girls and was killed in an alleged police shootout in September while being taken from prison for questioning. The police claimed he snatched a gun and opened fire, but the magistrate found the five officers responsible for his death. The court has asked the public prosecutor to inform the bench in two weeks on which probe agency will investigate the case.
